Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the fell 0.06%, while the index declined 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the were NTPC Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.05% or 3.75 points to trade at 126.90 at the close. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) added 2.07% or 18.00 points to end at 888.00 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) was up 1.94% or 25.10 points to 1317.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.89% or 61.70 points to trade at 3200.80 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:) declined 1.81% or 43.40 points to end at 2359.10 and UPL Ltd (NS:) was down 1.54% or 11.70 points to 746.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.13% to 126.90, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.94% to settle at 1317.05 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.85% to close at 2446.00.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.94% to 2356.45 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.34% to settle at 1101.10 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.82% to 7284.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 949 to 843 and 30 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1799 rose and 1456 declined, while 95 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.99% to 16.5650.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.26% or 4.75 to $1801.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.84% or 0.64 to hit $75.92 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.80% or 0.63 to trade at $78.58 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.24% to 74.383, while EUR/INR fell 0.55% to 84.1495.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 96.135.
